Visiting a Closed Saab Dealer: Village Saab in Acton, MA

For New England Saab enthusiasts, an ownership rite of passage is to visit the closed Saab dealer located in Acton, Massachusetts. It's a relic of an automotive past, of a company that many still hold dearly, and wished that it never met the fate it did.

Village Saab was one of the final New England based Saab dealers, before the company shutdown in 2012. After Saab's shutdown, Village Saab continued to operate as a used car dealer, where they continued selling Saabs in addition to other makes. The business officially closed its doors in 2017, per their Facebook page, which is still active. Today, Village Saab is now an overflow lot for Subarus.

Despite Saab's death as an automaker, Village Saab continued to keep the Saab name high and proud. The business never took their official Saab dealer signs down - after Saab's shutdown and after the dealer shutdown. Today, the Saab signs still stand, leading many, including myself, to make the pilgrimage to the closed dealer with their Saabs to recreate what once was... or what could've been.

Now, let's explore Village Saab for ourselves:

As you can see, the Saab dealer sign is still high and proud. For those that don't know that Saab actually closed 14 years ago (as of 2026), this probably gets confusing! Nonetheless, it's amazing to see an actual Saab dealer sign still standing.

This is part of the trip is what makes the visit worth it. There are still Saab vehicles and memorabilia inside the building! This is because the family still owns the building despite its closure. This is also what distinguishes the Village Saab showroom from being an otherwise abandoned dealer showroom. It's essentially a glorified garage space now.

Inside the dealer showroom are a 9-3 and 900 convertible. There's also a Porsche. Others have seen an NG 9-5 in addition to the two Saabs and Porsche that I saw. Let us know if you've seen anything different.

Now we'll make our way to have a look at the front of the building. As you can see, Saab never died at Village Saab in Acton, MA. The name is still clear as day. I brought my 99 EMS for the ride, and it was sure worth it. Bring your Saab for the voyage - or take any car - for the sake of seeing perhaps the most unique relic of Saab's past in North America.
